ゴンザガ大学では、今日のグローバル社会において、高い道徳観と倫理観を持つことを重要視しています。また、大学は学生が哲学・神学・史学・数学・文学・自然科学・社会科学などから構成される様々な教養科目のクラスを受講して、学問の基礎を身に付けることを主眼においています。ゴンザガ大学の卒業生の多くが、こうした教養科目のクラスによって基礎を固めたことにより、世界を理解し変化に対応していくことが可能になったと述べています。ゴンザガ大学の学生は92 以上の専攻課程から自分の専攻を選ぶことができます。創設当時からある教養学部のほかに、経営学部、教育学部、工学部、プロフェッショナルスタディ、セントマイケルズインスティチュートがあります。

木々や芝生の緑が美しい広大な敷地には、80棟以上の建物が並び立ち、特に注目値するのはジャントアートセンターおよび美術館（The Jundt Art Center and Museum)です。ギャラリーでは大規模な展覧会が開催されます。絵画や版画、デザイン、陶器、彫刻など美術科の各クラスも設けられています。フォリーセンター図書館の貴重蔵書室には、500年前の蔵書コレクションがあります。また、クロスビー学生センターには、ゴンザガ大学のもっとも有名な卒業生、ビング・クロスビーにまつわる記念品が展示されています。

ゴンザガ大学のあるワシントン州スポケーンは、人口約20万人の都市です。大都市並の便利さを提供しながらも、小都市が持つ親密さや安全性を維持しています。米国北西部は大自然の美しさに恵まれた地域で、アウトドアスポーツが満喫できます。また、ハイテク産業も盛んな土地柄です。スポケーンの気候は四季に分かれ、西側にそびえるカスケード山脈がこの地域を米国北西部特有の湿った海岸性気候から守っています。また、同様にスポケーンの東側にあるロッキー山脈が壁となり、比較的穏やかな冬が過ごせます。
